Warhammer: Dark Elf Army List for Alamo GT

I'm off to Alamo GT this weekend. This is my second Indy GT and this time I'll be traveling to San Antonio, Texas for the event. I'll be bringing the same army list that I used at Bayou Battles.  I don't expect to do as well as I did at Bayou Battles but if I win even a couple games, I will be very happy! I am going to try to take some photos at the event this time and share them here. In the meantime, here are a couple painting photos.

This is my Dark Elf Army in its current state (with display board).

Here are my new Hydras with completed paint.

Here is my Cauldron of Blood with converted Death Hag Battle Standard Bearer. I still intend to convert the Cauldron itself using the Warhammer 40K Eldar Avatar of Khaine model.

Wish me luck at the tournament!

Warhammer: Dark Elf Army List for Bayou Battles GT

OK, so it's been quite a while since my last update but I have been working fast and furiosuly over the last month or two to get my Bayou Battles list completely painted and ready for the tournament.  I am finally done and the resultant finished army is pictured below.  This will be my very first GT so I am both nervous and excited. My record with this list is quite good (9/1/1) to date but there will be many, VERY good players to compete against. Wish me luck!

"Star Trek" Minis

These aren't "official" Star Trek minis.  My buddy from work bought these little guys, I painted them, and he constructed and painted the display base.  A co-worker and good friend of ours, who also happens to be a huge Star Trek fan, is leaving the company we work at so we are presenting this to him as a fairwell gift.

Hordes: Carnivean (work-in-progress)

Sorry it's been so long since I've updated but here, finally, is the next step in the Carnivean project.

Here, the teeth have been re-based using Vallejo Game color Dead White.

In this step, I first painted highlights going back to straight Vallejo Game Color Terra.  I then painted a unifying layer between the Devlan Mud wash and the Terra highlight using a 1:1 mix of both to smooth out the transition.

Hordes: Carnivean (work-in-progress)

In this step, I have base-coated the entire mouth area with Vallejo Game Color Bone White and then overbrushed all of that with Vallejo Game Color Dead White.

After the the base coat on the mouth dried completely, I washed the entirey of it with Citadel Baal Red Wash.

I also very carefully washed the little ridges (they look like some kind of gills or vents to me) under the Carnivean's arms with watered down Citadel Baal Red Wash.

Hordes: Carnivean (work-in-progress)

Here, I have washed all of the chitinous areas with Citadel Devlan Mud wash.

In the pic below, you can see that I did decide to continue the brown chitin look down the Carnivean's back and tail.

Hordes: Carnivean (work-in-progress)

Here, the skin areas of the Carnivean heavy warbeast have been drybrushed with Vallejo Game Color White.

After waiting for the drybrushing to dry, I base-coated the chitinous areas with Vallejo Game Color Terra.

I'm trying to decide whether to paint the ridges on his back and tail brown or leave them white.  I'm leaning heavily toward brown.

Hordes: Legion of Everblight

Yeah alright, so I am weak.  I bought into a Hordes army and have already modeled and begun painting them.

Here is my not-quite-done test model. This is a Shredder lesser warbeast from the Legion of Everblight starter box set. There were four of these in the box.  This little guy still needs highlights on the brown spines, claws, and chitinous scales as well as a little more detail on the teeth and finishing the base.  This is fairly close to what the final paint scheme will look like.

I am going to be doing some step-by-step shots of some of these models.

So here is the Carnivean heavy warbeast from the starter box.  After modeling and a little bit of putty work to fill in the most egregious cracks and faults, I began by priming the model with P3 white spray primer.  Once the primer was completely dry, I washed all of the skin parts with a 3:1:1 mix of Citadel Asurmen Blue wash, Citadel Leviathan Purple wash, and water.

This is another Shredder and obviosuly not the Carnivean but he is one step further along than the Carnivean.  Here I have, after the wash in the previous step has completely dried, drybrushed pure Vallejo Game Color White onto the skin areas in two successive coats.

Here is Lylyth, the Warlock from the starter box.  She is at the same stage as the Shredder above.

Warhammer: Dreadlord on Black Dragon

Finally! A newly completed project from the Dark Elf Army!  Here is my Dreadlord on Black Dragon. Actually this is the special character Malekith but I always use it as a regular Dreadlord. He has long been languishing in mid-completion and only in the last week have I finally completed him.  Enjoy!

Sorry the first pic is so blurry! :(

This pic is a little better.

Warhammer: Dark Elf Hero on Manticore

Here is my Dark Elf Hero riding a Manticore.  This guy has been finished for a while now.  Just another post of previously completed work.  I don't use him in games much but he was fun to paint.

The Dark Elf Hero was constructed from Cold One Knight's legs, arms, torso and shield, and a Black Ark Corsair's head and Sea Dragon Cloak (heated and molded by hand to fit between the Manticore's wings).

The saddle was sculpted from Green Stuff along with a bit from the Cold One Knights sprue for the front piece... saddle horn I guess it would be.

Warhammer: Dark Elf General and Battle Standard Bearer

Another couple of my previously completed projects.  This time, a Dark Elf Dreadlord (usually my army's General) and a Dark Elf Standard Bearer.

Here is a close-up view of the Battle Standard.

Stay tuned. More to come!

Warhammer: Cold One Knights

I am going to start posting all of my painting projects that I had completed prior to starting this Blog.

Here are my Dark Elf Cold One Knights.

The following two photos are the Cold One Knights unit command (Champion, Musician, and Standard Bearer).

I will post photos of more completed projects and work-in-progress (WIP) projects soon!

Warhammer: Sorceresses

I recently completed paint on two Dark Elf Sorceresses.  In the photo below, the most recent completions are the one with the red spell effects and the one on foot with the rediculously large head gear and staff.  The one on foot with blue spell effect and the one riding the Dark Pegasus have been completed for some time. Sorry, the photo is a little blurry.

One of the recent completions.  I painted the spell effects on this one red to differentiate it from the identical model with spell effect in blue.

This is the other recent completion.  This model is an older model that I recently acquired. It was already painted but I stripped the old paint job from it and redid it to match my army better.  I like how it turned out.

This model has been completed for a while.  This is actually supposed to represent the special character "Morathi" on her Dark Pegasus "Sulephet."  She is bad news! I almost always use the model as a standard, non-character Sorceress though.

Here's the other long completed model.

I have another Sorceress riding a Cold One model that is unpainted.  I am probably going to convert her to be an interchangeable rider on the Black Dragon I am currently working on.  Some day...

Warhammer: Dark Elf War Hydras

These are my two Dar Elf War Hydras.  These critters are quite nasty in-game.  Opponents tend to hate them. Mostly I just LOVE the models!

The green one has been finished for some time.

The blue Hydra was about 75% finished while its Handlers were about 50% finished.  I got him wrapped up over the last 2-3 days.
