Retribution Army Update: Mage Hunter Strike Force

The brown is finished on one of the Mage Hunter Strike Force units.  The pics below are a few of one model at random and then one pic of a selection of models from the unit.

The brown is 1) base coat with Vallejo Game Color equivilant of Cobra Leather, 2) wash with Citadel Devlun Mud, 3) highlight with VGC Cobra Brown, 4) edge highlight with 2:1 mix VGC Bone White and Cobra Leather.

Next up, I've got to get the brown done on the other Mage Hunter Strike Force unit.  Normally I would do each step to all of the models but I get bored way to easilly. ;)

Retribution Army Update: Pics of Finished Eiryss

Eiryss has been completed for a while. Just now taking the time to post pics.  She is painted in Retribution colors as opposed to her traditional Mercenary colors.

The rest of the Retribution army is coming along, albeit rather slowly.  Working on the browns for the crossbows, leather straps, and such now.

First Warmachine Tournament

I played in my first War Machine tournament yesterday at Mag-Con.  Unfortunately, I lost in all three rounds, but mostly I had fun anyway.

Apparently it is common to have timed turns in War Machine tournaments.  I was not aware that there would be timed turns until I got to the event. That didn't go so well for me.  I have problems remembering rules and unit abilities when I don't have a time restriction. Needless to say, I was very nervous.

My problems with the practice are:
1) It does not allow for the mechanics of the game.  I can understand limiting so called "analysis- paralysis", but when I've got several dozen dice rolls to make the clock gets eaten up fast!
2) When one player or the other needs to ask questions about a unit's abilities or a rule, it's not fair to the other player causing (me at least) to avoid asking, and therefore risk breaking the rules or not using potential game-winning options that might not be completely familiar.

But that's the way it is. If I want to play in these types of events, it won't be easy, but I will just have to learn to adapt.

Painting Update:
I finished Eiryss. I'll have to take a few photos of her and post them later.  All of the white armor is done on all of the models.  I also built, primed and started painting the Manticore.

I decided to reward myself for finishing the green on all of the Mage Hunter Strike Force models, so I went ahead and finished Ravyn today.

Pics from my WIP Retribution Army

More or less I'm doing the whole army in stages.  Most of this stuff is primed, skin, dark grey leather, and chain mail done. All of the solos, and one of the Mage Hunter Strike Force Units have the camo green bits completely done.  The second MHSF only has the base coat of green.  Left to do is the green on the second MHSF, brown leather bits, metal bits (weapons, buckles, etc), white armor, hair, detailing, and basing.
The Phoenix will be done completely separately after the rest of the army is done.

My most active painting project right now is a Retribution of Scyrah army for the game Warmachine.  The army consists of 22 infantry, 4 solos, 2 warcasters, 1 light warjack, and 2 heavy warjacks.  I may be about 1/3 of the way through the painting. I'll start posting progress photos soon.
